Protoss Strategy

This Protoss Strategy that I’m going to cover is taken from Shokz Ultimate Strategy Guide.  This is the BEST guide for the game of Starcraft 2.  It’ll take you from a newb into a Diamond rank in no time.  Seriously, this thing is like bringing a machine gun to a sword fight.

Protoss Strategy: Zealot and Stalker Combo

Protoss Strategy Build Order

protoss strategy

I’m going to share with you one of my favorite Protoss Strategy guides.  It is simple yet very effective and powerful.  I use it a lot and win a majority of my games with Protoss strategy.  SHHH.  Don’t tell anyone though.  Use it for yourself only!

Stalkers and dark templars are by far my favorite units from protoss.  What I’m sharing involves mostly stalkers and zealots, but you can add dark templars in for a good mix as well.

9/10 – Gogogo.  Build your first pylon and let’s get this ass-kicking started!

13/18 – Start warping a Gateway.  Time to produce some armies :)   It might also be a good idea to start scouting with a probe as well.

14/18 – Build an Assimilator and as soon as it’s finish put three of your probe slaves on that immediately.

15/18 – Pylon number two please.

18/26 – Time to build your Cybernetics Core for your stalkers

20/26 – Second Gateway.  Note: if you have scouted your enemy and they are preparing for a rush, then make some zealots for a little defense.

You also don’t want to go straight stalkers.  No protoss strategy is good with only massing one type of unit.  Mix it up.  You’ll ideally want around 3-4 Zealots before you start making your stalkers just in case of an early attack.

As soon as your cybernetics core is done building, make some armies of stalkers.  Ok, don’t go crazy and make 30 of them.  Once you get around 3-4 stalkers along with 3-4 zealots move in for a fast attack.

I also try to add dark templars to this protoss strategy after my first attack.  You also definitely want to research Blink.  Blink is an essential move for the protoss and can be very useful.  Especially against long range attackers such as a tank.  You can just blink right next to them and bam, bam, bam them to death!

Protoss Strategy – Stalker Blink Microing

Blink Ability

The ability to blink is found at the Twilight Council for 150 minerals and 150 gas.  It takes 110 seconds to get it so you really need to use chrono boost to speed that thing up.  The hot key is B.

I love blink.  A protoss strategy move that I use to my advantage and to harass the crap out of my opponents.

Another way you can use blink is to quickly close the gap between long range units and air units such as Void Rays or Banshees.  They can just blink in instead of having to walk to attack your opponents.

A strategy to harassing your opponent is to get in sight of a ledge and then you can blink onto that ledge and bam!  Harass the crap out of your enemies harvesters.  Once enemy units get there, just blink back out.  Then blink back in again once their gone.  Ultra harassment right there.  A great protoss strategy.

Smart Blink

If you see a cliff inside an enemy’s base, take your group of stalkers and blink to onto the cliff.  Most of the times though, not all stalkers will make it because there won’t be enough room for them.  However, I know a solution to this little problem.  Just a little microing is all takes.  You get used to the microing trust me and you use the hell out of your B button.  Just a little protoss strategy ftw.

1. Gather your Stalkers up in front of the cliff or area.

2. HOLD SHIFT and blink to the destination.  So just hold shift and press b and click.

3. While STILL holding shift, move your stalkers a little further and try to make more room for your other stalkers.

Super Micro Blink Crazy Protoss Strategy

Ok, this protoss strategy requires some serious microing skills.  You can win an army that’s way bigger and stronger than your own if you implement this strategy well.  It does take some time to master though and I admit that I’m not the best at this protoss strategy either.

I’ve seen some crazy gameplays where the other protoss player outmicros his/her opponent using stalkers and blink.  These guys are insane.  Well, anyways let me explain the protoss strategy.

So, while your in a battle with your stalkers in your front lines, take the ones with low HP and blink them to the back the line.  Pretty simple and yet it is genius.  It’ll not only save your stalkers, but they can be able to continue attacking while your other troops take the damage for them.  You save your stalkers, you kill more enemies, you save resources, you kick butt and the other guy leaves the game :) GG

Be aware though, that it might sound pretty easy, but when in gameplay it is quite hard to do.  So I suggest that you definitely use the hotkey B and don’t panic!  When it came to battles when I first started out, I always seem to panic at the worst possible times and lost the game when I could have won it if I simply didn’t have a heart attack.  You get used to it though, and soon it becomes second nature, especially with a good protoss strategy.

Want the Protoss Strategy that Pros Use?

Look no further.  My starcraft 2 skills were only somewhat “average” before I found out the best guide that changed my starcraft gameplay.  I was probably like you.  Looking for protoss strategy and other ways to improve my game, but none of them really delivered.  Well I can vouch that Shokz guide took my starcraft 2 gaming to a complete other level.  I restructured my strategy so that I win almost every game, especially if it’s 1v1.  It’s really easy to follow and also easy to implement as well.  But don’t be fooled by the simplicity because THEY WORK!  Let’s go kick some starcraft ass with our Protoss Strategy!

Protoss Strategy Introduction

Protoss strategy in Starcraft 2 can sometimes be complicated and advanced.  Maybe because the Protoss race is so advanced.  They are extremely powerful and advanced in technology which, when used wisely, can make them the best carry race in the game.  The protoss strategy strength is not in numbers, like the Zerg, but their strength lies in their raw power of quality.  That’s right, the Protoss are straight up quality over quantity.  Even a small group of protoss units can wipe out entire armies.  Although, they are strong, they usually involve a lot of microing.  Anyways, let me give you a brief overview of the Protoss strategy and their race class.

Protoss Strategy Advantages

The Protoss Strategy rely on what they call psionic power.  Just one pylon can power several buildings in the protoss family.  This is one of the reasons why they are so powerful and can leverage this psionic power to their advantage.

Each individual protoss unit can probably take on its equivalent in both the Zerg and Terran races.  They can probably easily win against the other two races if they have a one to one ratio unit count.

Chrono Boost me please!  Just like it’s name it can be used to BOOST the economy quick status.  Can speed up production and rapid fire those researches.  Give those protoss scientists a little boost baby!

Shields are what makes protoss strategy different from both the Terran and Zerg.  They got not only one life, but TWO life bars.  Not exactly a cat with nine lives, but it helps for sure.  Did you know that the shield recovery rate is 2 per second after 10 seconds have passed?  Not bad to use as a nice protoss strategy.  It might not be useful when your in an all out Armageddon style battle, but nonetheless it’s still good when you’re recovering.

The shields are nice on the buildings as well.  Lightly damaged structures will recover in no time.  Badly damaged buildings though might take a while longer and might not recover it’s health fully (not including the shield).  So if you’re using a hit and run protoss strategy then great.

Technology is the core of the protoss strategy.  Using “warp” technology, the protoss only need one probe to building everything from a nexus to 40 pylons if you want.  That’s a big advantage over Terran and Zerg whereas you don’t need additional workers to make those damn buildings.  They can be gathering your minerals and gas for you instead.  Yay!

But my favorite protoss strategy advantage of all is the use of the Mothership.  Muahaha enemies be aware.  This thing provides permanently cloaking to not only nearby units but to buildings as well.  Too bad we can only have one though =(.  Five would have been really nice.

Protoss Strategy Disadvantages

Of course with every strategy and every race there comes a counter or a disadvantage.  If only there were no cons to this race.  But then again, that would make everyone choose Protoss and the whole game would get boring.

First, and probably the most important thing to note is that these guys are expensive!  Jeez, talk about high class.  The Protoss is like a Private jet and the Terran is like First-class and Zerg like economy class.  A private jet is nice, but you don’t get that much troops.  So when using a Protoss strategy remember that you DO NOT want to waste a single unit because these guys cost a lot!  Unless you’re a millionaire in minerals.

Second thing that comes to mind is EMP.  Yup, the kyrptonite of the protoss strategy.  Damn you Terran and your ghosts.  While your shields might hold up against a zerg army, you got to watch out for the Terran’s power to take out your shields.  Well, you gotta watch out for the Zerg as well just because they’re like little poisonous rats.  You might be stronger than them but try killing a thousands rats while they’re biting you.  Ouch.  So just because the Zerg can’t take down your shields they can still kill you, especially if the other guy is pro.  Even the best Protoss Strategy can’t stop that.

The last thing that I would consider a disadvantage in the protoss strategy is their pylon power.  I know I said it was an advantage, but it can also be a huge disadvantage, especially early in the game.  Let me give you an example of a protoss strategy that fails.  You power your five cannons with one pylon and the enemy sees this weakness and takes out that one pylon.  Those cannons are now useless rocks.  Be smart and use more than one pylon to power things up please.

Protoss Strategy Pros

For me, I honestly prefer the protoss over any other race just because of their sheer power.  I usually play random, but when I want a for sure win I pick protoss.  What’s good about a well-developed protoss strategy is the flexibility in it as well as not need to control 300 units.  I would prefer quality over quantity any day, wouldn’t you?  Would you want three Honda civics or one Ferrari?  I don’t know about you, but for me it’s the Ferrari, although the three civics seem tempting for some odd reason.

And where can you get the best, powerful, and the most effective protoss strategy in the whole game of starcraft 2?  Well, that would be the Shokz Ultimate Starcraft 2 guide.  This guide is like bringing a machine gun to a knife fight.  Talk about trigger happy.  To learn about the best protoss strategy guides check this site out:
